At the AMB international metalworking exhibition, HEMA is demonstrating how production machinery and work areas can be protected using customizable safety systems. In addition to protective and viewing systems, the portfolio includes pneumatic clamping and braking systems, such as those designed for rotary applications.
Process reliability in rotary movements
RotoClamp was specifically developed for position clamping in production machinery featuring rotating elements. The pneumatic clamping system is available in versions for both internal and external clamping and is compatible with all standard industrial shaft sizes. Its operating principle relies on a spring-loaded mechanism: compressed air is applied to a spring diaphragm, causing it to contract and the clamping elements to release the shaft. When the air pressure is removed, the spring plates immediately return to their original position, locking the shaft securely in place. A booster function utilizing additional air pressure can further increase clamping force when required. RotoClamp features a fail-safe function: in the event of a pneumatic system failure, the axis is immediately clamped with high force. This offers users several process advantages. The pneumatic system generates high clamping forces even at low pressures, thereby ensuring high production reliability in precision manufacturing. The fail-safe function provides added security and helps minimize scrap rates.
Custom-designed machine protection
In addition to RotoClamp and other clamping and braking systems, HEMA is showcasing its customizable protection systems. These range from compact bellows and XXL-sized bellows solutions to roof covers and complex rear-wall covers. Also in the spotlight are roller covers, which offer a space-saving protective alternative for machine components that do not require full enclosure. HEMA recently introduced the TF-RS 3D roller cover in this category; compared to standard models, it achieves a 30 percent faster travel speed without compromising service life or durability.
The trade fair presentation is rounded off by HEMA’s viewing systems. The manufacturer offers machine safety windows that are custom-made to customer specifications and designed to meet the required protection class. Trade visitors can also learn about SPINVISTA rotating windows, which ensure a clear view of the machining process while cutting operations are underway.
