Machine safety windows: tested for your protection

We have our HEMA machine safety windows tested for impact resistance by independent institutes in accordance with the standards for metal-cutting machine tools. The screens are fired at with projectiles weighing up to 2.5 kilograms. The impact, which the vision systems must withstand, occurs at 80 m/s and has an energy of up to 8,000 Nm.

HEMA machine safety windows are designed as a composite of polycarbonate and safety glass. The polycarbonate screen is located on the operator side and offers high retention capacity. This protects the operating personnel from ejected workpieces. We use machine safety glass on the interior of the machine. This is resistant to cooling lubricants and protects the polycarbonate screen from prolonged contact with the cooling lubricant, which would otherwise cause it to become brittle and quickly lose its retention capacity. With this composite, a properly designed machine safety window achieves reliable retention capacity even when exposed to a force of 8,000 Nm.
