Where are bellows used in 3D printing?
Serving as a flexible partition for the workspace, bellows retain heat within the build chamber and protect heat-sensitive areas. In industrial 3D printing, the melting of thermoplastic injection-molding granules can generate temperatures of up to 275°C on the heating plate and up to 200°C within the build chamber.
How do bellows cope with high production temperatures?
For these applications, we manufacture bellows from specialized technical fabrics—such as self-extinguishing materials. Proper fabrication of the bellows is also crucial. For high-temperature applications, we design protective systems using a special construction that eliminates adhesives and PVC support frames used for dimensional stability. For bellows used in CNC manufacturing, alternative joining techniques such as thermal bonding or HF welding are employed.
Regardless of the temperature range or manufacturing process, reliable protection systems are not off-the-shelf products; custom-designed bellows protect components and ensure the longevity of the machines.
